Pastor

Dr. Bill Skaar  bskaar@fbcgp.org
Dr. Skaar leads in the worship life of the church and provides pastoral ministries for the church family, while giving administrative leadership to the entire church staff. Dr. Skaar began his ministry with First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas in June of 1999 after serving for nine and a half years with Central Baptist Church, Livingston, Texas.

Dr. Skaar seeks to have a ministry that prioritizes three things: prayer, preaching and people. He believes that these three things are catalysts for growth, and if a pastor and church will give themselves to prayer, will love people and reach out to the lost, and will diligently proclaim the Gospel, that God will give health and growth to that body of believers.

Dr. Skaar was born December 30, 1959 in The Hague, The Netherlands. After graduating from Baylor University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, he enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, attending the Houston Baptist University Extension Center. He received his Master of Divinity in 1987 and earned his Doctor of Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1992. Married In 1982 to Pamela Kay Wimpee, they have two children, Melissa and Brad.

Anticipation for First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie

"Grand Prairie is in the midst of new growth and opportunity, with projections of 22,000 more people making Grand Prairie their home in the next 10 years. In Isaiah 43:19, God says, 'Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?' As we approach the 21st century, these are exciting days to join God in what He is doing and in what He wants to do. By His grace, First Baptist Church, which has a long and vibrant history already, will see her brightest days ahead."
