Passage: Psalm 37:22-31

Mary and Joseph ended up staying there in Bethlehem. The only rational reason would have been that their family back home didn’t want them to return because of the disgrace that they felt about Mary having a child that wasn’t Joseph’s. So Joseph put his skills to work as a carpenter and together this young couple saw God provide what they needed and they settled down to build a life. Before Jesus was two, circumstances would cause them to have to flee for Egypt, but once again, God showed them how He could provide. He brought Magi from the east with expensive gifts. Those gifts would provide enough resources to get them to Egypt and allow them to live there until it was safe to return home.

King David observed this truth. God never abandons His people. His love and care causes Him to come and meet their needs. If you need it, God will supply it. If God doesn’t supply it, ultimately, you didn’t need it. If you ever find yourself in a position where Jesus is all you have, you will also find that Jesus is all you need. Trust Him.
