They displease God and are hostile to all men in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved.” (1 Thessalonians 2:14b-16)
Passage: Acts 4:1-21
It didn’t take long for the believers in Thessalonica to find out that standing up for Jesus can be dangerous. The opposition formed a mob and caused a riot in the city. They looked for Paul at the home of a man name Jason, but he and other believers would not reveal where Paul was located. In spite of being physically assaulted and dragged before city officials, Jason and the others stood strong. They protected Paul and his team and then helped them escape the city in the night.
Those who follow God have always faced the potential of persecution. Daniel’s three friends were told to bow down to an idol of Nebuchadnezzar or be thrown into a fiery furnace. They stood strong and refused to bow down. Daniel was told not to pray to his God or be thrown into a den of lions. He still prayed. You may not face extreme persecution like Daniel, Paul and Jason, but you will surely face things that force a choice between Christ and the world. Be brave and stand strong. Jesus is with you!
