Be faithful to your marriage partner

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (3 minutes) “Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because He no longer pays attention to your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. You ask, ‘Why?’ It is because the Lord is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.” (Malachi 2:13-14)

Passage: Matthew 19:1-12

A man told a friend, “My wife and I have never gone to bed angry.” The then added, “We have had a number of times when we stayed awake for more than one day!” Every marriage has times of disagreement and disappointment, but long-term marriages learn to work through those times. The word God spoke to the people in Malachi’s day could certainly be spoken in our day. We live in a culture that devalues marriage more and more and divorce is not unknown among God’s people.

For those who have experienced the pain of divorce, whatever the reason, God’s grace is available to help them move forward and if possible, even bring restoration to the home. For those who are married, God wants those marriages to be all He designed them to be – covenant marriages, committed to Christ and to each other. Be faithful and let God bless your home.
