Passage: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-15
When God called Malachi to speak to His people, the majority of the nation had quit being faithful to God in worship, service and stewardship. They wondered why they weren’t experiencing God’s blessings of revival and God bluntly challenged them regarding their disobedience and their lack of faith. However, He still loved them and pointed to a group of people who had remained faithful even during times when most people did not. These were the kind of people Malachi referred to in our text for today. They were conscious of their relationship with God and they honored Him in their attitude and actions.
One of the things that kept them faithful was that they encouraged each other. They “talked with each other” about how God had worked in the past and how they were His chosen people. They challenged each other to continue living for God. God wants us to do the same. He sees and knows everything we think, say and do. We need the encouragement of fellow believers and they need ours. Be an encourager and live the difference for Christ.
