Be an example for Christ

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (3 minutes) “ ‘They will be mine,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.’ ” (Malachi 3:17-18)

Passage: John 13:1-17

On a recent visit to our daughter and son-in-law’s home, they invited us to go to our granddaughter’s gymnastics lesson. Since Katherine is just only 20 months old, I wondered how children that young could take gymnastics, but I figured it would be fun to watch her flip around on the uneven bars. (She is precocious!) What caught my real attention was the instructor. She had all the parents sit on the mat with their children and she told the parents, “Do what I do. If your children get up to go play, don’t follow them unless they are going to something where they might get hurt. Keep doing what I’m doing. They will watch you. They are learning even by watching.”

You are special to God – a treasured possession. Jesus demonstrated His love for you on the cross and He set the example for you of sacrificial service for others. Follow His example and be an example for Christ. The world needs to see genuine servants of Christ living out their faith. Young believers need to see that too. Live the difference. Others are watching you!
