They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor or all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:46-47)
Passage: Romans 10:5-15
When Jesus began His public ministry, He began to call disciples. Matthew 4:19 tells us that He saw Simon and Andrew casting a net into Lake Galilee and he said “Come, follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” A few years later, Jesus would reach out to a tax collector named Zacchaeus. When people criticized Him He replied, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:9-10)
God is building His Kingdom and the only way people can become a part of that Kingdom is through placing their faith in Jesus. The early church understood their purpose to grow God’s Kingdom through sharing the gospel of Christ. Many churches have no evangelism plan and do not seek to grow. The question needs to be asked – “if we are not fishing for people, can we really say we are following Jesus?” Catch the vision for growing God’s Kingdom and encourage evangelism and missions in your church.
