Passage: Psalm 34:1-22
Go to any bookstore (or the few still open) and you will find a large section of books devoted to the topic of positive thinking. Look online and you will find many seminars being offered that promote the concept of positive thinking. The reason for this is simple. Positive thinking works. Some may think it is a new thing that someone discovered as a help for self-motivation and success in business, but in reality, it is an old thing that comes straight from God. In the Proverbs, which were written nearly three thousand years ago, the Bible tells us “Be careful how you think. Your life is shaped by your thoughts.”(GNT) God wired us in a way that the thoughts we think affect our lives.
Paul understood this and so he told Timothy to “remember Jesus”. The word remember mean to keep in mind and think about. Paul gave this command to Timothy because he knew that Timothy was prone to discouragement and might drop out of his ministry. He knew that if Timothy would make sure he continually thought about Jesus, who He is, what He has done and what He had in store that it would keep Timothy focused and faithful. Thinking about Jesus will do the same for you.
