Read – (3 minutes) “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, who He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.” (Hebrews 1:1-2)
Passage: Psalm 121:1-8
Nearly 2000 years ago, the writer of Hebrews spoke of being in the last days. To our human minds, it is hard to think of 2000 years as being “last days”. (Saying that kind of reminds me of the preacher who always said “and lastly” in his sermons and then the sermon would last and last.) However, the Bible tells us that “a day with the Lord is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day.” (2 Peter 3:8) In God’s time-frame, these 2000 years have been more like two days to us.
The last days began with the ministry of Jesus and they will end with the return of Jesus. In all that time, there is one thing totally consistent – Jesus speaks to us. He speaks through His Word. He speaks through the inner voice of His Holy Spirit. He speaks through godly counsel. He speaks through circumstances. Sometimes those circumstances are extremely difficult like these days we are facing with the COVID-19 pandemic. In the midst, listen for the still, strong voice of Jesus. He loves you. He will take care of you. He will see you through these days.
