Read – (3 minutes) “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, . . . having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
Passage: John 17:13-23
Christians are not immune from COVID-19. These days of upheaval in the world because of this coronavirus pandemic effect God’s people as much as anyone else. The difference for us as God’s people is the way we deal with the crisis in our lives. Paul describes the character of the world with 18 characteristics that give an overall picture of sinful man without God. Apart from Christ, man’s sinful nature ignores God, loves things and uses people. In Christ, believers are to worship God, love people and use things. In the world we see varied reactions of fear, folly in ignoring social distancing, or fatalism in not caring about looking out for those who are most susceptible.
As believers, we should deal with this crisis by faith, knowing the Lord will walk with us and see us through. We should be compliant with official directives and show our compassion for others through maintaining the social distancing, but also looking for ways we can serve others. Great testimony for Christ comes in great trials in the world. In these days, let the world see Jesus in you!
