Passage: 1 Corinthians 3:10-23
The most important part of a house is the foundation. If the foundation is not solid, the house may look nice on the outside and inside, but that will not last. Over time, the stresses on the foundation from the weight of the house and the shifting of the soil will cause the foundation to buckle and crack. When that happens, the house will crack as well. One of the saddest realities of the stay at home orders during the COVID-19 pandemic is the rise of incidences of domestic spousal and child abuse. Those things reveal the lack of a solid foundation for the home.
The starting point for home improvement is a solid foundation built on Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, One with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. He did for us what we could not do for ourselves when He lived a perfect life and then took our punishment for sin upon Himself at the cross. He was raised the third day and offers eternal life by grace through faith. When you confessed Jesus as Lord and received Him as Savior, God gave you the solid foundation upon which to build your life and family. When you build on Him, you will be able to stand strong and secure though the stresses and trials of life and you will be a testimony of His sustaining grace for the world.
