Passage: Psalm 27:1-14

Everyone has decorations where they live, whether that place is a room, an apartment or a house. The décor you choose tells things about you. Family pictures show the people who are closest to you. Décor shows things you are interested in, or it may represent a place you have visited. If someone came into your home, is there any décor that would give an indication that your home is a place that honors Christ?

Moses told God’s people to put reminders of God’s Word on their hands, foreheads, their doorframes and their gates. The principle was to surround themselves with the Word of God so that they would constantly be reminded that they were God’s Covenant people. It is important to note that décor is not a substitute for devotion. People can wear a cross around their neck, but not have Jesus in their heart.  What God wants is for our décor to be a testimony and reminder of our devotion. In the decorations you put around you, display some things that point to Christ and help you affirm your devotion to Him.
