Speak up and witness for Christ

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.’ ” (Daniel 3:16-18)

Passage: 1 Peter 3:13-17

When God disciplined Israel by sending them into exile, He told them through Jeremiah to “seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile.”(Jeremiah 29:7) Daniel and his three friends did just that. Nebuchadnezzar had elevated them to positions of authority and they were valuable to him. They handled everything with integrity, productivity and profitability. He didn’t want to lose them, so he gave them a second chance to bow down to the idol he had made. They didn’t need a second chance. They spoke up and witnessed for God.

Wherever community and country God places us in, He wants us to build it up, not burn it down. He wants us to bless it, not berate it. We are not of the world, but we are in the world and we are called to give a clear witness about Christ to the world. The world may turn up the heat to force Christians to be silent about man’s problem of sin and God’s solution in Jesus. Don’t be silent. Speak up and witness for Christ. Jesus is the answer!
