Passage: Psalm 112:1-7

One of the highest medals awarded in the Armed Forces is the Distinguished Flying Cross. It is “given to any person in the Armed Forces who distinguishes himself or herself by heroism or extraordinary achievement while in flight.” The award is given for a voluntary action that went beyond the call of duty and resulted in something so exceptional that it set the person apart from others who served under similar circumstances.

As we celebrated Father’s Day this past Sunday, I believe one of the great needs of our day is to have father’s who will distinguish themselves in raising their children by God’s design. One of the greatest examples of a father like this was Abraham. He distinguished himself by his faith and God used him to change the world. I’m grateful that Pam and I had fathers like that and I thank God for the many dad’s I see who are strong Christian role models for their own children and others. God wants all of us to be men and women of distinction. Set your heart to one who can be recognized like that today.
