In Times Like These

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (3 minutes) “But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, ‘In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.’ These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.” (Jude 17-19)
Passage: Psalm 75:1-10

I think it is safe to say that none of us will forget the year 2020 and the year is only half over. The COVID-19 pandemic and taken a toll and continues to spread. It has not only effected millions medically, it has affected us economically with a shut down that put millions out of work from an economy that had the lowest unemployment in years. Then, the killing of George Floyd, which was uniformly condemned by Americans of all political persuasions and by Police officers across the nation, set off protests, which were co-opted by those who seek to tear down the very fabric of our society.

In times like these, believers need to hear a word from God. The writer Jude described times in his day and gave such a word. He wrote at a time when the Jews were in rebellions against Rome prior to 70 AD. It was a time of war and conflict politically. It was a time of deep depression economically. It was a challenging time for the church spiritually as they dealt with false teachings. As we listen to challenges from Jude this week, keep in mind that God was not surprised by what was happening in that day and He is not surprised by the situations and crises that are happening today. He is still at work and He will see us through.
