       Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:50-58

On April 18, 1906, one of the largest earthquakes in history struck San Francisco. That earthquake caused around 3000 deaths and over $6.3 billion dollars of property damage in today’s dollars. The shaking was felt throughout all of California and as far away as Nevada and Oregon. The year 2020 has not had a land earthquake like that, but this year has seen the most devastating pandemic in a century along with massive economic damage caused by the pandemic response, the social upheaval that has included riots, looting and destruction of property and wildfires in the west. There is a whole lot of shaking going on.

In the midst of all this, God is not shaking. He has not been caught off guard, or left wondering what He will do. Through our faith in Jesus, we have access to God and we have confidence that He will see us through. The world may shake, but God’s people will stand. The world may be gripped with fear, but God’s people will walk in faith. The world looks around at all the problems in the world. God’s people look up to Jesus. We’re in this together and we must stand firm in Jesus. Stand strong in the Lord. He will see us through!
