Only Believers will Enter Heaven

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Jesus replied, ‘The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage.’” (Luke 20:34-35
      Passage: Romans 10:5-13

When my son, Brad, was in first grade, I recall a conversation where he asked us to buy him some kind of video or video game. I saw this as an opportunity to help improve some conduct at school in not talking too much in class. I said to him, “I’ll get that if you will be good this week at school.” Brad replied, “Do you mean everyday, or just one day?”

Luke gives us an additional word Jesus said to the Sadducees, who asked a foolish, gotcha question about marriage in heaven, even though they didn’t believe there was a heaven. He not only affirmed that heaven is real, but He also pointed out that only believers would be there. To be considered worthy of heaven, a person can’t just be “good” most of the time. He or she would have to be perfect all the time. Perfection would mean every thought, word, and action would have to have a selfless motivation to only glorify God and be for His Kingdom. I’m not perfect and neither are you, but Jesus is. Heaven is reserved for those who believe in Him and receive Him with childlike faith. God wants everyone to come to heaven, but only believers will enter.
