Youth - Making an Impact

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “These things command and teach. Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:11-12)
Passage: Psalm 61:1-5
The Apostle Paul met a young man named Timothy when he was on his second missionary journey. Timothy was probably around 16-18 at the time and Paul was so impressed, he got Timothy to join him and Silas as they traveled and shared Christ. A few years later, Paul left Timothy in Ephesus to be the pastor of the church that they had established there. Ephesus was not an easy place to be and Timothy let Paul know that he was experiencing some opposition from some of the people who must have criticized him as a leader due to his young age.
Paul let Timothy know that his youth did not disqualify him to be a leader in service to Christ. God uses young people who are sold out to Him in special ways. Nearly 600 years before Christ, God used four young men who had been taken into exile in Babylon. The four were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. These four made an impact for God in Babylon and stand as examples for both youth and older adults. If you are a teen or young adult as you read this, don’t ever think you cannot be used to impact your world for Christ. You can!
