Give God Your Affection

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart. . .” (Matthew 22:37)
      Passage: Psalm 18:1-2

The Great Commandment says to love God with all your heart. The heart is the seat of your will and your emotions. Love has emotions and feelings, but feelings come and go. If the expression of love only depends on feelings, a relationship will not grow deeper or last long. True love must be rooted in a commitment to demonstrate affection in what you say and what you show.
In a strong marriage, the words “I love you” will be spoken regularly regardless of how each spouse feels at certain times. Love will also be shown in actions of meaningful touch and expressions of intimacy also with actions that show consideration and care for one’s spouse. In the same way, the affection of the heart toward God needs to be expressed verbally through telling God you love Him and giving Him praise. It is also shown visually through your presence in worship and your participation in His Kingdom work through your service and stewardship. Loving God totally begins with giving Him your affection. Speak it and show it and grow deeper in love with Him each day.
