Give God Your Abilities

      Passage: Matthew 25:34-40

My beautiful wife, Pam, like to hear me say the words, “I love you” regularly. She likes the affection of hugs and kisses. (I do too!) However, there are many other things that say “I love you” without the words being spoken. Cleaning up after a meal and doing the dishes. Helping plant flowers in the flower beds. Going with her to do something she really likes (shopping), when she knows shopping on its own is not high on my like list. I do things like that, and she also does many things that would not be high on her own list, because we love each other and we have the ability to do them.
Loving God with your strength speaks of using the abilities you have physically and materially to say yes to serving God. God created you with different talents and abilities and then, when you received Jesus, God gave you some spiritual gifts to complement your natural talents. The key to being used by God is to be available to being used. Give God your abilities and be available to Him. As you serve Him, your love will grow for Him and He will use you to make a difference in the world.
