Focused on God’s Kingdom

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Jesus said, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.’ ” (John 18:36)
  Passage: Matthew 7:13-14

     A common phrase heard by parents who won’t let their children go anywhere and do anything, is “Everyone is going!” My mother responded with the mom kind of logic, “Well, if everyone was jumping off a cliff, would you jump too?” Obviously, the answer is no, but the reality is that we live in a world where many people jump on the latest bandwagon and go along with the crowd even if they don’t really understand what they are doing. 

The biggest problem with that is that the world is upside/down and going the wrong way. God’s design for a full, meaningful and purposeful life is one that has a Kingdom. Jesus modeled this in His life from the time He was at the Temple at the age of 12, to the beginning of His public ministry and all the way to the end. A focused life is countercultural to the world, but it is the key to a full life in Christ. Stay focused and let God use you to glorify Him and build His Kingdom.
