Death Will be Eliminated in Heaven

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. But about the resurrection of the dead - have you not read what God said to you, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” (Matthew 22:30-32)
      Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:35-58

A man heard someone quote Jesus saying we will be like the angels in heaven. He said, “My wife is already like an angel. She’s always up in the air harping about something.” (A comment like that would not only be a poor relationship, but it’s definitely poor theology) Jesus was not telling us that believers would become angels. The commonality we will have with angels is that we will have eternal life and will never taste death again after we enter heaven. Angels were created to serve God and serve His people. As a child of God, you have a higher position in God’s Kingdom than any angel. You are a joint-heir with Jesus.

Death is a part of the curse of sin. It is an enemy that every believer will face, except for those believers alive at the coming of the Lord. One of the greatest guarantees God gives us is the promise that in heaven there will be not sickness, sorrow, pain or death. The Apostle Paul speaks of our earthly bodies as temporary tents and tells us that we will have an eternal home in a new body in heaven. We do not need to fear death, though it is a natural reaction since this earthly life is all we know by experience. Pauls tells us “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8) That is a wonderful thing to look forward to!
