Protect Your Witness
Pray – (1/2 minute)
Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “ Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” (1 Peter 5:8-9)
Passage: Psalm 1:1-8
When the disciples of Jesus asked Him about the sign of His return and the end of the age, He began by telling them to “watch out that no one deceives you.” (Matthew 24:4) He went on to describe some signs that would precede His return including ever increasing spiritual confusion, human conflicts and natural calamities. He also let them know that they would face opposition from the world and that Satan would try all he could to discredit their witness and destroy their lives.
One of the most important things you can do to be prepared for the return of Jesus is to protect your witness. Whether you realize it or not, there will be people watching you. Some watch to see if you are consistent in living out your faith. Some watch without knowing anything about you, but if they were to discover that you claim to be a believer, would they be surprised or would they affirm that your conduct matches your confession. The world needs to see positive images of Christ. Let them see Him in you.
