Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. They he went on his journey.” (Matthew 25:14-15)
     Passage: Romans 12:1-8

Every person on earth is created in the image of God. Every person is gifted with inherent talents and abilities that can be developed and used. Every person is unique in the combination of all those talents and in all the things that make up who they are. People come in all shapes and sizes and, while everyone can work to be the best they can be, there are different levels of talents that people have. The same thing applies in the realm of spiritual gifts. When a person becomes a believer, God gives him spiritual gifts to use in fulfilling God’s purposes. Not every believer has the same gifts, but everyone has some gifts.
Jesus pointed out this reality in the Parable of the Talents. The master gave out different amounts of money to three servants. Though it may seem five is a lot more than one, one talent of money is estimated to be about 75 pounds of gold, which would be over $3 million. All three had zero to begin with, but all were given a huge sum to manage. Some people complain about what they don’t have and envy those who seem to have more. Don’t do that. Recognize that all you have is a gift from God and appreciate how God has gifted you.
