Affirm Your Stewardship of Life

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “The man who received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money. After a long time, the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.” (Matthew 25:16-19)
      Passage: 1 Chronicles 29:10-20

The principle of ownership is a societal concept for helping keep order in society, helping build an economy and more. The principle is established by God and helps prevent the chaos that comes when stealing is unchecked. However, the reality of life is that all of our ownership is really temporary management. One day, each of us will die and whatever we own will be passed on to someone else. What we need to affirm as believers, is that God is the true owner of everything, and we are stewards of everything He has given us in life.
In the Parable of the Talents, the first two servants understood stewardship. They were entrusted with different sums of money, and they understood their task was to manage what they were given to the best of their ability. The third servant simply dug a hole and hid the money and did not do anything with it on behalf of the owner. God has made you unique and given you gifts and talents to use for His glory and your good. Affirm your stewardship of life and be a good manager for Him.
