Read - (2 1/2 minutes) - “At that time I said to you, ‘You are too heavy a burden for me to carry alone. . . Choose some wise, understanding and respected men from each of your tribes, and I will set them over you.’ You answered me, ‘What you propose to do is good.’ ” (Deuteronomy 1:9-14)

Passage: Ephesians 4:7-16

Someone once observed, “The church is often like a college football game. There are 22 players on the field, badly in need of rest and 50,000 people in the stands badly in need of exercise.” God never intended His Kingdom work to all be done by just a few. Moses learned this early after God used Him to deliver the Israelites out of slavery. Recorded in Exodus 18, Moses was hearing disputes between the people all day long. His father in law, Jethro, recognized that he was going to burn out if he kept doing that and said he needed to let others help him. That was wise advise then. It is wise advise now.

The pastor and any assistant ministers a church may have are not primarily called to do all the work of ministry in a church. Their primary task is to be equippers and vision casters for the members of the church family so that each person can use his/her giftedness in service. The more people who use their gifts to do something, the stronger the church will be. Find your place in service and be part of helping your church do church God’s way.
