A Closer Walk with God

You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you.” (Exodus 33:12-13)
Passage: Psalm 34:1-8
One of the most popular southern gospel songs in history was first published in 1940 by Kenneth Morris. He heard the song being sung by a porter at a train depot and discovered it had not been published before. According to some records, the song was written prior to the Civil War and was heard being sung by people were under the evil of slavery while they worked in the fields. The song is “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and the chorus goes, “Just a closer walk with thee. Grant it Jesus is my plea. Daily walking close to thee. Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.”
Moses would have loved that song. Before He went up on Mt. Sinai to receive the 10 Commandments for the second time, he already was close to God. He had seen God do incredible miracles and he spoke with God “face to face, as a man speaks with his friend.” Yet, he wanted to grow closer to God and know God even better. God wanted that as well for Moses and He wants that for you.
