Speak with Confidence in Christ

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, ‘O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.’ ” (Daniel 3:16-18)
     Passage: 1 Timothy 1:8-12

The defining moment came for Daniel’s three friends. They were solid in their commitment to God because they had a deep relationship with Him and not just a cultural religion. They stood with conviction and finally, they spoke back to Nebuchadnezzar with confidence in God. That confidence was rooted in God’s Word and in God’s works in history and in their own lives. They knew the miracles of God for Moses, David and Elijah. They had experienced personally God deliver them and raise them up to positions of influence. Now they spoke clearly back to the king. Perhaps they thought of Isaiah 43:2b, “. . .When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” They didn’t know if God would do that miracle, but they knew He could, and they spoke out for Him.
When you are out in the world, situations will occur where you won’t see the end from the beginning. The fires of adversity will stare you in the face and bring inner anxiety. God sees you. He promises to walk with you. He will not leave you.  Stand firm. Speak in the name of Jesus. He will see you through.
