Soldiers for Christ

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “When Jesus heard this, He was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following Him, He said, ‘I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.’ Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.” (Luke 7:9-10)
     Passage: 2 Timothy 2:1-4

       We are blessed in the United States to live in a country where we are free to worship and gather. The freedoms we enjoy were gained and are preserved in large part by the service of soldiers in our armed forces. Soldiers are valuable to our country and soldiers were an inspiration for the Apostle Paul. He used them as an example and challenge to Timothy to be a soldier for Christ.

Jesus had an encounter with a soldier that he didn’t meet in person, but whose faith impressed Jesus so much that He expressed amazement and said He had not seen that deep of understanding of faith in all of Israel. The result of the encounter was not only a miracle that showed the power of Christ and affirmed He is the Messiah, it also gave us an example to follow to have a deep faith and be soldiers of Christ in our world.
