       Passage: Ephesians 5:25-6:4

After David became King, he captured the city of Jerusalem and made it the capital for the nation and the center for worship. He brought the Ark of God into the city where it would be place inside the Tabernacle. His actions showed his devotion to God and his desire to lead the people of Israel in their devotion to God. After that time of worship before the Ark, we read that “David returned home to bless his family.” The word translated returned is not the normal Hebrew word which would indicate he went back to his home. It has a root meaning of surrounding or revolving around something. The word conveys that David understood that, next to his relationship with God, he was to prioritize his family by surrounding them with his care.
The world downplays and seeks to ignore any differences with men and women, but God designed for men to be protectors and providers for their families. That protection and provision is not primarily financial. It means that a man is married, he is called to rise up and be ready to protect his wife and children and surround them with love and encouragement and guard them against those that would harm them. The greatest gift a father can give his children is to love their mother and the greatest gift a father can give his children is his time. Rise up and be dedicated to your family. The generations to follow will be blessed.
