     Passage: Psalm 118:8-9

Of all the questions that people ask about things in this world under the sun, one stands out as one of the most perplexing. It is “Why do bad things happen to good people?” You could probably make a long list of people, who loved Jesus and lived godly lives, who experienced a tragedy or physical illness that took their lives much earlier than average lifespans. You could probably also think of people who lived self-centered lives without any regard to God that seemingly had lives of ease with everything we consider good on earth going their way.
There is not a set answer for why bad things happen. The fact is, we live in a world under the curse of sin and in this world, “rain falls on the just and the unjust” (Matthew 5:45) In all the things that happen, you can rest in God’s character. He is Sovereign over it all. He loves you and has you in His hands and whatever comes your way, His grace is sufficient to give you the strength you need to deal with it and to be a testimony through it. Always look ahead and remember. Heaven is better than anything this world affords, and God prepared it for you. Trust Him!
