God’s Greatest Gift is Jesus

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel’ – which means, ‘God with us.’ ” (Matthew 1:22-23)  
      Passage: John 3:16-21

         Human history began with God’s creation of the first man, Adam. He was created without a sin nature, but he was given a freewill to respond to the love of God and have a personal relationship with God. When he sinned by violating God’s one command not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the curse of a sin nature entered his life. As the consequences of sin were manifest, God made a promise that He would bring a deliverer to restore all that was lost.
        That deliverer, the promised Messiah, had to be born without a sin nature, but since the sin nature is passed through the father, every person born in the natural way with a human father and mother could not be the one. Jesus was born to be the One. Without a human father, He was born without a sin nature, but unlike Adam, He never gave in to temptation. With the love of God and His perfect life, Jesus was able to offer Himself as a perfect substitute to pay the penalty of sin for the world, and everyone who believes in Him is given eternal life. Jesus is God’s greatest gift to us and the reason we are committed to Him.
