Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is written in Isaiah the prophet: ‘I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way’ - ‘a voice of one calling in the desert’, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’ ” (Mark 1:1-3)
Passage: Colossians 1:15-19
The sun is the center of our solar system. Its gravitational pull is what holds our solar system together. Everything revolves around the sun. When it comes to looking at the universe, the prevailing scientific opinion is that there is no center of the universe, because the universe is ever expanding. However, that worldly supposition ignores the one reality – there must be a Creator behind it all.
In Colossians 1:16-17, Paul writes of Jesus Christ, “For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, . . . all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” As the sun is the center of our solar system, Jesus Christ is the center of everything in the universe and He is the center of Christmas. Without the SON, Jesus Christ, there would be no universe and there would be no Christmas. Fully human, fully divine, the Son of God was sent to save us from our sin. Christmas is good news about Jesus – the center of everything.
