Passage: Psalm 104:1-5
Many people will make New Year’s resolutions and many of those resolutions will be about getting in better physical shape. Health club memberships will increase in January, but many will drop out by March. I read one man’s journey. It went like this: 2019 - Reduce weight to 180 lbs. 2020 - Reduce weight to 200 lbs. 2021 - Go workout at the gym 3 times a week. 2022 - Drive past the gym 3 times a week.
While many resolutions do not get kept, the very desire to respond to a new year and improve oneself is a part of the way God designed us. One problem for many is that they are not realistic with their resolutions, or they do not develop a workable plan with the discipline to do it. But a larger issue is that the resolution is not rooted in a conviction to respond to the new mercies God gives us each day. God wants you to be the best He designed you to be. Set goals for the new year, but make your first goal to grow deeper in Christ. This week we will look at four principles that will help you do that.
