Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Sing to the Lord, O you saints of His; praise His holy name. For His anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:4-5)
Passage: 1 Peter 1:3-9
Peter Marshall was a Presbyterian minister who served as US Senate Chaplain from January 1947 until his sudden passing from a heart attack in January 1949 at the age of 46. His wife, Catherine, wrote a book about his life and in it she described the time of the heart attack. After it occurred, Peter was still alive when emergency personnel arrived at the house. As he was being carried out on a stretcher, he looked up at his anxious wife and, seeking to calm her said, “Darling, I’ll see you in the morning.” Those were the last words he would speak to her.
The distinct joy that a believer has in Christ doesn’t keep us from grieving in loss or walking through difficulties. What we have is a hope that the world does not know. It is the hope of Christ who gives us His salvation, strength and supply to live life to its fullest and assures us that heaven is our home. The song writer says, “On that bright and cloudless morning, when the dead in Christ shall rise, and the glory of His resurrection share. When the chosen ones shall gather in their home beyond the skies and the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.” Knowing that, choose joy today. It’s morning in heaven.
