Passage: Psalm 14:1-7
Every person on earth was born with a sin nature that opposes submitting to the purposes of God for their lives. Unbelievers may not think that they are against God, but, as Paul writes in Romans 3:10, “As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.’” Because sin has “I” at the center, a person can try to clean up the outside of life, say he believes in God, be loving to his family, do good things that benefit others and help his community, but he cannot erase the penalty of sin and he cannot become right with God on his own.
Only Jesus could make that possible. Through His perfect life, His atoning death and victorious resurrection, Jesus paid sin’s penalty and conquered death. When you believe in Jesus and confessed Him as Lord, God canceled your sin debt and transferred the perfect life of Jesus to your account. You are “justified”, which means God sees you “just as if you had never sinned.” You now have peace with God. Thank Him for that!
