Passage: Psalm 8:1-9
When Jesus entered Jerusalem in that Triumphal Entry, crowds lined the road as He rode on the back of a donkey down the hill of the Mount of Olives. They spread cloaks on the road and shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” Hosanna means “Save us” or “Save, we pray”. That cry was carried into the Temple and the loudest shouts were coming from children. In shouting out “Hosanna”, they were recognizing Jesus as Messiah and expecting Him to do bring salvation to Israel.
The Pharisees were indignant. They not only rejected Jesus as Messiah, but they also had the attitude that children should be seen, not heard. When they confronted Jesus and asked, “Do you hear what they are saying?”, Jesus basically replied, “Yes. Isn’t it great?!” God designed us to Him to love us and for us to love Him back. When you believed in Jesus and received Him, you experienced the answer to “Hosanna”. God saved you. That should lead to a desire to celebrate His greatness and give Him praise. He loves to hear praise come from children. Let Him also hear praise from you.
