Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Hear another parable. There was a master of a house who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a wine press in it and built a town and leased it to tenants, and went into another country. When the the season for fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to get his fruit.” (Matthew 21:33-34)
Passage: Psalm 119:1-8
The Temple in Jerusalem was one of the wonders of the ancient world, but the Pharisees had forgotten that the Temple was just a tool that God gave them to use to give God glory and be a blessing to the world. They acted as though they were the owners of the Temple and could use it for their own self-centered, self-righteous desires. When Jesus came to the Temple on that Sunday before He would be crucified on Thursday, they resented the praise He was given by the people. They didn’t acknowledge that the Sovereign God of the Universe was standing in the flesh right in front of them.
Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.” God created everything in this universe. He owns everything. You and I are caretaker’s, or tenants while we are here on earth. When you acknowledge God’s ownership of everything, it will free you in Christ to let Him use you in mighty ways to fulfill the purposes you were designed to fulfill.
