     Passage: Matthew 9:35-38

Being a part of a Baptist church is not the guarantee of heaven. Only faith in Jesus Christ guarantees that. However, God designed local churches to be spiritual homes for His children and to be places where His people can gather not only for worship, but also to work together to fulfill His purposes and reach out to the world. The name Baptist can help identify some doctrinal convictions and denominational affiliation, but some people think the name Baptist is a hindrance to their ministry due to the negative reputation Baptists have developed in the eyes of some in the world.
My challenge to our church and any other church is that reputation is built on what people see and experience. If every believer in a Baptist church or any other church will let their lives reflect the fruit of the Spirit, the reputation of their local church will be good in their community. Before people will give an ear to the gospel, they need to see the gospel in action. Show God’s kindness through what you do, however small it may seem. Let people see Jesus through you.
