“On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise Him, He was named Jesus, the name the angel had given Him before He had been conceived. When the time for their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed Joseph and Mary took Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord.” (Luke 1:21-22)
Passage: Ephesians 6:1-4
Matthew 1:24 says, “When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.” In that verse, two short words sum up the godly testimony that Joseph showed in being a spiritual leader in his home. “He did”. God told Joseph through His messenger to take Mary as his wife. He did. God’s Word said to have all male babies circumcised, which was a sign of being under the Covenant. Joseph did. God’s Word said to bring the first-born males to the Temple “to be consecrated to the Lord.” Joseph did. God’s Word told families to offer a sacrifice to God after a birth. Joseph did. God called Joseph to lead spiritually in His home. He did.
Every person will stand on his or her own before God one day regarding their belief or unbelief in Jesus. There will be no excuse for unbelief, children are far more likely to follow Jesus if they have seen Him in their parents. Lead your children toward Christ by being faithful yourself. Lead in such a way that if, after you’re in heaven, someone asks your family asked if you showed them Jesus, their answer will be, “He did” or “She did”.
