“Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in destress. IN the past He humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future He will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan - The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” (Isaiah 9:1-2)

       Passage: Psalm 130:1-8

One of the greatest needs of the human heart is to have hope. Hope believes there is something good ahead. Hope looks for better times and things. In the same way a person cannot live physically without oxygen, a person cannot fully live emotionally without hope. However, in the world, hope is not based on something guaranteed. It is more of a wishful thinking, because anything in this world can be gone or changed in an instant.
God gave Isaiah a look at the future Messiah over 700 years before Jesus was born. The first thing he addressed in that prophesy recorded in Isaiah 9, was the promise that the future would be bright because of the Messiah. Gloom and distress would be taken away. Light would pierce through the darkness. Jesus is the Light of the World and the hope He gives is not uncertain and elusive. The hope we have in Jesus is sure and guaranteed. When you know Jesus, you have light for your life now and the best is always yet to be.
