Be Surrendered to God’s Will

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “ Jesus replied, ‘The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.’ ”
(John 12:23-24)
       Passage: John 15:9-17

Seeds were designed by God to produce a plant and a harvest, which in turn will throw of many more seeds, which will do the same. However, the seed will never produce anything unless it is buried, or surrendered to the ground. Jesus was speaking of Himself as the seed which would be given up in death in order that the fruit of salvation for the world might be realized. He didn’t have to do that for us. He chose to do that, because He was surrendered to the Father’s will. That surrender was heard in the Garden of Gethsemane when He prayed, “Abba, Father, everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
God wants to use you to show people Jesus and make an impact in this world for Him. One of the keys for that is you must be surrendered to His will. Romans 12:1-2 tells us to “present our bodies as living sacrifices. . .” When you die to yourself and seek to do God’s will in your character and conduct, He will cause your life to be the seed that bears fruit for the Kingdom.
