Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Leaving Nazareth, He went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali – to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah: ‘Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles –” (Matthew 4:13-15)
Passage: Jeremiah 29:1-14
There are over 300 prophecies in the Old Testament about the coming Messiah. Jesus fulfilled every single one. Isaiah’s prophecy in Isaiah 9:1-2, spoke of God honoring the territory given to the tribes of Zebulun and Naphtali by sending the Messiah to their area. Some may claim that Jesus knew the prophecy of Isaiah, so He went there intentionally to fulfill what Isaiah had said. However, Matthew had tied Jesus’ return to Nazareth to John’s arrest and then we know from Luke 4, that Jesus went to Capernaum after the people of Nazareth had rejected Him. Both those situations were circumstances that caused Jesus to move to each place.
