Strong in Faith

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Now then, just as the Lord promised, He has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time He said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the desert. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.” (Joshua 14:10-11)
     Passage: 2 Corinthians 4:7-18

I love Caleb’s attitude. 85 years old and he still considered himself as strong as he was when he was 40. I would like to think that of myself, but the reality is, I’m not. Physically, Caleb may not have been physically as strong either, but that doesn’t negate what he said. He still felt as strong and he was physically in shape enough to go into battle to take what God had promised him 45 years earlier. In addition to that, he was certainly spiritually stronger than he was at the time when he went into the land with the other spies and he knew that that God would enable him to do whatever God had purposed for him to do.
Senior adults who are kingdom builders are strong in faith. Having walked with God for many years, they have seen God work in many ways. They have experienced His faithfulness and provision. They have felt His grace and strength in times of weakness and distress. Paul wrote, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
