Beauty in being Industrious

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “So she went out and began to glean in the fields behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelech. . . . ‘She went into the field and has worked steadily from morning till now, except for a short rest in the shelter.’ ” (Ruth 2:3-7)
Passage: 2 Thessalonians 3:6-12
A man came home from work and told his wife he had been fired. She asked why and he replied that the foreman got jealous. When she asked how he said, “You know how I told you the foreman just stands around and watches everyone else work?” His wife replied, “Yes”. “Well”, the man answered, “The people started thinking I was the foreman.” God did not design us to be idle. In His design for creation, Genesis 2:15 says, “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” God gave Adam responsibility for the Garden and He expected Adam to work in it.
Ruth showed the beauty of her character by being industrious and working hard in the fields. She did not have a foreman looking over her shoulder. She did her work in a way that reflected Colossians 3:23 which says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” A woman (or man) who is industrious in whatever she does shows the beauty of Christ in her life and is a good testimony of faith for Him.
