Read - (2 1/2 minutes) - “When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”), and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.” (Luke 2:22-24)

Passage: Psalm 31:1-3

Forty-one days after Jesus was born, Joseph and Mary took Him to the Temple to follow the instructions given in Leviticus 12 for dedicating the first born boy. On that day there were thousands of people in Jerusalem. Only two people recognized that this baby was the Messiah. If we look at the birth of Jesus as being the Christmas season, we their recognition of Jesus was experiencing Christmas after the season was over.

The 2023 Christmas season has come to an end. The decorations are either put away or will be coming down soon. Christmas songs are no longer being played on the radio and all the gifts have unwrapped. Today is the beginning of a new year, however, the spirit of Christmas can continue if you will follow the example of those two who recognized Jesus at the Temple that day.
