Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.” (Deuteronomy 14:28-29)
Passage: 2 Corinthians 9:6-14
When people in the world criticize churches, one of the most prevalent things they claim is that the church just wants their money. They do not say that about restaurants, or stores, or car dealerships and everything else there is in this world, but that’s because the sin nature has things upside down and the unbelieving world does not understand the ways of God. God doesn’t tell His people to give because He needs money. God is not a beggar. He tells His people to give because He wants to teach us to trust Him and He wants to let us be a partner with Him to reach our world.
The first reason for the tithe is to help believers show our love for God and keep our relationship with God a priority. The second reason is to help provide for the ministry which includes maintaining a place of worship, providing ministries for God’s people and their mission in the world and to provide for God’s ministers who He calls. The third reason is to allow God to release His liberality to pour out His blessings and show that you will never outgive Him. God cares for you. He promises to take care of your financially as you trust Him with the resources He provides. Love God and give back to Him. He will bless you!
