Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “…when you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey Him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on your and gather you again from all the nations where He scattered you.” (Deuteronomy 30:2-3)
Passage: Psalm 37:1-6
As Moses was nearing the end of his messages to the Hebrew people as they were getting ready to enter the Promised Land, Deuteronomy 29 records how he went through a detail of God’s power and work among the people from their deliverance out of Egypt to taking care of them in the wilderness. He foresaw that future generations would turn away from the Lord and that the Lord would discipline them with exile from the land He gave them God’s promise that the Lord would restore them. Deuteronomy 30 begins a challenge Moses then gave for the people to hear God’s call to return and be faithful to Him.
The call to faithfulness is a call to come to Christ and then to follow Him and be faithful to Him the rest of your life. The response of faithfulness is a right response to God’s faithfulness to you. Just as Moses outlined for the people how God had been good to them, look back and reflect on many ways He has been good to you. As you reflect, listen to His call to faithfulness and set your heart to be faithful each day.
