Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. . . Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:15-19)
Passage: Luke 14:15-24
Moses challenged God’s people to be faithful. The call to faithfulness was a divine call that came from and was powered by God Himself. The call to faithfulness was a doable commitment. Anyone who hears God’s call can respond with their own free will, for God does not have robots in His family. He has children. To sum up the challenge, Moses then presents the people with the options. Following God and being faithful is the path of life and prosperity. Rejecting God is the path of death and destruction.
I do not consider myself the brightest bulb in the package, but that should be an easy choice to make. It is like being shown two banquet rooms. One room is decorated beautifully. The tables are set. The banquet is filled with the best foods you can image that are tasty and filling. Not only that, the banquet is free. Someone else paid everything. The other room is dirty. The plates are unwashed. The food is moldy and invested. In addition, you will pay everything you have to enter. The beautiful room is God’s room and banquet table. Receiving Jesus and being faithful to Him is a delightful choice that will fill you will purpose, meaning and life. Choose life and be faithful to Him.
