Passage: 2 Timothy 3:10-17
The disciples asked Jesus a question about greatness. Now questions are good if you actually are interested in learning the answer and the way Jesus began His answer was to bring a child into their midst. One characteristic of little children is a desire to learn. My granddaughter, Katherine, just finished kindergarten, but she loves telling us all the things she is learning. I was therefore surprised to hear her say she wasn’t excited about moving on to first grade. Her reasoning was not that she didn’t want to keep learning. It was because they started giving grades!
Greatness in God’s eyes is not a matter of making an A in theology or being able to answer all the questions in a Bible Study. God wants you to have a desire to learn from His Word and to learn about His world. He wants to teach you how to live right side up in an upside-down world and make a difference and impact for Christ. Set your heart to be a life long learner and be great in God’s eyes – like a child.
